Short Biography
Elizabeth Partridge graduated with a degree in Women's Studies from the University of California at Berkeley, and later studied traditional Chinese medicine. She was an acupuncturist for more than twenty years before closing her medical practice to write full-time.
Elizabeth is the acclaimed author of more than a dozen books for young readers, including Marching to Freedom: Walk Together, Children, and Don’t You Grow Weary, as well as biographies of Dorothea Lange, Woody Guthrie, and John Lennon. Her books have received many honors, including National Book Award Finalist, Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, Los Angeles Times Book Prize, a Michael L. Printz Honor, and the Jane Addams Children's Book Award. Elizabeth is on the faculty of the Vermont College of Fine Arts, MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults.

Elizabeth Partridge is the author of more than a dozen books, from young adult nonfiction to picture books to photography books. Her books include Marching for Freedom (2009, Viking), as well the biographies John Lennon: All I Want Is the Truth (2005, Viking), This Land Was Made for You and Me: The Life and Music of Woody Guthrie (2002, Viking), and Restless Spirit: The Life and Work of Dorothea Lange (Viking 1999). Her latest book is the middle grade novel, Dogtag Summer (Bloomsbury, 2011).
Elizabeth is a National Book Award Finalist, and has received the ALA Michael L. Printz Honor Award, the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the SCBWI Golden Kite, and the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award.
Elizabeth is on the faculty of the Vermont College of Fine Arts in the MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults. She chaired the National Book Award Committee for Young People’s Literature, (2007), and has served on the Los Angeles Times Book Prize Committee and the SCBWI Golden Kite Award committee.
