I love to speak at conferences, conventions, writing programs, and other events. It’s a delight to be part of a group of people learning and connecting with new ideas and one another, getting excited and re-inspired about their work as librarians, teachers and writers. I also do a limited number of school visits.
I’m happy to do any combination of speeches, workshops, panel discussions, book signings and Q&A sessions. I like to engage adults and students about visual literacy (a critical skill for our visually saturated kids), narrative nonfiction, and historical fiction. How has photojournalism shaped our view of the past, and informed our present? What part does street photography play today?
I've spoken at museums, presidential libraries, National Park Interpretive Centers, elementary, middle, and high schools, colleges, conferences and conventions across the United States.
